About Serious Bob Promotion
Serious Bob Promotion was started almost 40 years ago (4/1/82 to be exact), promoting Alternative artists such as Pete Shelly, The Human League, and The Go-Go's to AOR radio when Alternative music was a dirty word to the Rock radio community. Through tenacity, hard work, and dedication he shifted his style from Alternative to New Age, back to Alternative, and now, since 1992, Adult Rock and Blues. During his early years of "Serious Bob," he also represented Grammy winning producer Martin Rushent. Together they had the Arista distributed label, Genetic Records, which featured The Members and Pete Shelley, whose US debut was a chart-topper for weeks at the then-fledgling video outlet, MTV.
One of the co-founders of I.R.S. Records with Miles Copeland in April of 1979, he was responsible for the success of artists such as The Go-Go's, Buzzcocks, Berlin, and Oingo Boingo, to name a few. He remained with I.R.S. for 3 years until 1982. He has a total of 20 Gold & Platinium discs since 1982 from such varied artists such as The Go-Go's, Elle King, Ben Harper, The Bangles, John Lee Hooker (The Healer), Gary Moore, 4 Non Blondes, Eric Clapton with B.B. King, and more.
